Jacques Reymond Cuisine du Temps

"Jacques Reymond, the man, has been in the game for so long it's easy to forget his contribution as a culinary innovator. He was one of the first to offer a degustation menu. Similarly, his classically based cuisine embraced Asian flavours and textures long before it was fashionable. His restaurant's rejection of entree-main in favour of small plates in 2002 has paved the way for countless imitators".
- Necia Wilden 'The Age Good Food Guide 2009'

"You mighn't expect a restaurant with as

august a reputation as Jacques Reymond

to be hip to the zeitgeist, but there appears to be no stopping the sprightly Frenchman's imagination.'' 'The Age Good Food Guide 2010'

About Us

Jacques Reymond restaurant is located only ten minutes from the Melbourne CBD, and occupies a stately Victorian mansion, dating back to circa 1880. Featuring extensively landscaped gardens, open fireplaces and a private car park, the house acts as a historical landmark in the area, and has been used as a restaurant and reception centre for over fifty years. Purchased by the Reymond family in 1992, the house has undergone extensive renovation so as to include three uniquely separate dining rooms, as well as a larger upstairs space for private functions. The resulting style of the décor and ambience promote the philosophy of Jacques Reymond restaurant as being a traditional framework for contemporary Australian dining.

The restaurant is proud to have been at the forefront of Melbourne dining since its inception, and head chef Jacques Reymond is very much chef in the kitchen, a figurehead for his flagship restaurant. His innovative and modern approach to cooking continues to win accolades for the restaurant, and many regard him as the most consistently balanced yet curiously daring chef Australia has yet seen. He has built his restaurant very much as a family affair, with various members of family employed in senior roles throughout the establishment.

The restaurant has been awarded three chefs hats by ‘The Age Good Food Guide 2009”, has received ‘Best Fine Dining in Victoria 2009' by the Restaurant and Catering Association.

This year it has become an affiliate of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux association which members includes some of the finest Hotels and Restaurants in the world. Click for more on Relais & Châteaux.
